How to import a Gimkit kit
Learn how to export a Gimkit kit, preview it in Packslet, and import the questions into a question pack.
Note: A Gimkit export includes each question and its correct answer. The original wrong answer choices are not included, so Packslet creates new ones during import.
- Visit packslet.com and click the Login button.
- Create a new question pack or open an existing pack. No question pack yet? See How to create a question pack or How to find a question pack.
- If the pack is empty, click Import from Gimkit in the question area. If the pack already contains questions, open the three-dot menu near the pack title and select Import from Gimkit.
- In Gimkit, open My Kits and select the kit you want to import.
- Select Export from the kit's menu, then click Copy Text. See Gimkit's official guide to exporting a kit for additional help.
- Return to Packslet and paste the copied text into Paste your kit. Keep one question and its answer per line, separated by a tab. You can import up to 100 questions at a time.
- If your answers are on the left side of the pasted text, turn on Flip questions and answers.
- To have Packslet write plausible wrong answers for each question, turn on Generate AI distractors. This is a Packslet Pro feature. If you leave it off, Packslet creates wrong choices using answers from the other questions in the kit.
- Click Preview questions. If you enabled AI distractors, this may take a minute; do not refresh the page while Packslet is working.
- Review the questions and answer choices for accuracy before using them with students, especially if you enabled AI distractors. All questions are selected by default. Clear the checkbox beside any question you do not want to import, or use Deselect all and choose questions individually.
Tip: If Packslet reports that a line could not be read, click Edit the paste to return to the text and copy the export again without editing it. If your kit contains more than 100 questions, import the remaining questions in a second paste.
- Click Import number to pack to add the selected questions to your question pack. You can use the Edit button beside any imported question to revise it afterward.
